Procrastination - the biggest thief of time.

Procrastination.... this nigga, very devilish and cunny. Believe me, the nigga is a spirit. You know, if there's someone that's really good at procrastinating, then that person should be me.

Oxford dictionary defines procrastination as the act of delaying something that should be done because you don't want to do it. But to be sincere, it's not like you do not want to do it, but then you're too lazy to. Am i right?

When i was in  secondary school, (yes, I'm no longer in secondary school ๐Ÿ˜‡. Shemy is now a big girl ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜น) there was this pastor that they usually brought to preach to we the students on the school assembly ground every Friday.

We considered the pastor very funny became he was always preaching about boyfriends and girlfriends most Fridays when he came.

But then, admidst all these, there's something that the man was always saying. He was always telling us yo beware of procrastination because it's only a device used to delay our success. Any time the man speaks, it'd just be like je was talking to me.

I know I'm not the only one that has a problem with procrastination; everyone does. Okay, maybe not everyone but most people.๐Ÿ’ฏ

Sometimes, you want to do sometime, but then the feeling to do it is not there, so you postpone it to another time. Then what you're meant to do by the time you postponed it to also gets postponed.(hope you get what i mean๐Ÿคท)

My mum usually complains about my usual act of procrastinating everything. Iwa oroju (like she calls it๐Ÿ˜น) is so not good. As in, it's not good at all.

I remember when i was in jss1, we do wear pinafore. The pinafore is blue in color but then, the inner is white. I had used up all my white inners and refused to wash any of them.

The day before, (i.e on Wednesday) mum told me to wash my white immediately i got back from school. I told her i had heard, but then, i didn't wash it. When i remembered again, i still didn't wash it. ' Let me rest a little more.' I said to myself.

When i remembered again, that was in the evening i still didn't wash it because i was watching a t.v program and couldn't leave it. To cut the long story short, i forgot to wash it.

Waking up the next morning, i didn't know what to do, but then i had to go to school. Mum shouted at me, but then the shouting couldn't solve anything. Then we had to go for the only solution we had: i had to wear my sports wear top as the inner of my pinafore.

God knows I'd never make that mistake again. Almost every teacher and even students didn't pass by me without passing a comment. ☹️

One of the teachers even threatened to instruct me to pull off the sports wear top i was wearing and put on only singlets as the inner of the pinafore.

Infact, i was threatened to be sent back home. Being just a jss1 student and not being used to these kind of treatment, ( i mean i be small pikin na๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜น) i was just crying.

Throughout the day i didn't leave my class for the fear of being harassed again. It was a bad experience though, but I learnt my lesson. The whole incident could have
been avoided.

Sadly, procrastination has succeeded in gaining control over the lives of so many people; young people especially.

I have decided to start a war against this dude called procrastination and sincerely you should too.

Procrastination is known as the thief of time, but then i had to rephrase it as the biggest thief of time.๐Ÿคท

Time is on of the greatest asset anyone can possess. ๐Ÿ’–

Let's fight against this small but dangerous spirit. Let's all decide to make hay while the sun is shining. ๐Ÿ˜‡✨Procrastination does no good.๐Ÿ˜

Don't be the antagonist in someone's success story

' Diane,  i listened to your song.  You posted it on Audiomack right? '

' Yes aunt.  Did you like it? '

' Diane,  I'm so disappointed in you.  What were you thinking?  Your song was a complete mess.  The lyrics were whack,  the beats made no sense,  and even your voice made me sick. I thought you were a good singer. ' Diane's aunt shot at her.

Diane couldn't believe her ears.  She thought the song made a lot of sense and was even proud of herself after listening to it.  She felt very down cast and ashamed of herself.

First,  she trusted her aunt a lot and knew she couldn't tell he lies. Second,  her aunt was the first person to comment on her song.  Since she hadn't heard any other comment from any other person, she concluded that the song really was a mess.

' If I were you,  I'd quit singing. ' Her aunt said again,  hissed and left.

Diane slumped on the couch as tears found their ways out of her eyes.

She had always had the dream of becoming a singer,  a very great singer.  The song she released was her first and since her aunt tagged it as 'whack', she was beginning to think that maybe she wasn't truly going to make it as a good singer.

Many people find themselves  in the shoes of Diane. You have passion for something, but then there people around you are not helping you in anyway.  Usually,  you're being condemned and your efforts,  frustrated.

Someone other people are like Diane's aunt.  Why do you have to be the one responsible for the death of someone's dream?

Don't get me wrong... It's fine to criticize, it's not a bad thing to pass a comment.  But then, your comment shouldn't be the one to make someone give up.

Even when someone doesn't do it well enough,  commend the person's effort first before pointing out the errors.

Don't totally condemn a person because he or she didn't deliver well. We should help each other,  encourage each other and seek for the success of each other.

Why do you have to be the antagonist in someone's success story?

Wanna know what later happened to Diane? Let me tell you.  Diane later became successful as a singer,  like she dreamed.

When she was asked to tell her success story, the bottom line of it was that she was already willing to give up because of what her aunt said. But then, she didn't because of the encouragement her best friend gave to her.

There are two kinds of people successful people never forget : those who looked down on their dreams and those who were always there to encourage them.

Just like  protagonist and an antagonist are very important to the success of a story, these two people are also important to every success story.

Little words of encouragement go a long way.  Use your word to help people grow and not bring them down. Do not be the antagonist in the story.

Chase success, watch money follow

Overtime,  I've come to the realization that 99.9% of every normal person's aim is to have money and be very wealthy. ( Me included).

Yes,  who doesn't want to be wealthy,  rode exotic cars,  build elegant houses, wear expensive clothes etc. ๐Ÿ˜‡

But then, I also realized something. I realized that in all our thinking,  we do forget to think about what would become of our existence when eventually, we're outta this world. ๐Ÿค”

Let's look at it together from an aspect we'd all understand...LEGACY. Exactly, LEGACY✨. What legacy are we going to leave behind when eventually we are no more.  As in,  what is that thing that people are going to remember our existence for?๐Ÿค”

You know, if only we can use half the time and resources we use in chasing money to chase success, maybe our world would be a better place. ☹️

Ah... I heard your thought ๐Ÿ˜. I know exactly what you're thinking.  You're confused right?  I'd try to make it clearer.

That you're wealthy,  doesn't mean you're successful.  God!  Have you seen or heard about a successful person? ๐Ÿคท Who doesn't know successful people?

Successful people leave a mark... A mark that in years to come,  people would never forget.

Look at it from this other aspect. Take a look at some legends we have in history today. Sincerely speaking,  most of them have been dead years ago,  but then we still talk about them.  Why? ๐Ÿคท These people left a mark (positive one by the way)  and were able to get themselves to be described as successful people.

After building up all the wealth in this world, ๐ŸŒ let's also think and ask ourselves,  ' What impact did I really make?  What legacy am I leaving behind for generations to come? '

Sincerely speaking,  I really don't know if I was able to explain well and make you understand well,  but then I just hope that you were able to have a little bit of idea ๐Ÿ’ก.

Bottom line is that we should chase success and not money.  Listen,  there is no successful man or woman that is poor ๐Ÿ‘Œ. But then,  there are so many wealthy people  who can't boast of success.

Wealth,  or perhaps money ๐Ÿ’ฐ can come form anywhere and can go anytime.  But then, success comes from hard work and trust me,  a legacy left,  stays forever. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Why hurry? WHY?

As a person, ( or maybe it happens to every other person) I've always had this feeling of wanting something when it clearly shows that now isn't the time for me to have it. Yes, it must have happened or be happening to every other person. I'd look at a lady with a very beautiful and yes, expensive hair and be like ' Wow...I love that hair. I'd love to plait something like that.' But then, something in me would be like ' Shemy, the lady is working for Christ's sake. She's making her own money. You're only a student.' And yes, its true. Or, maybe I see someone riding a very beautiful and yes again, expensive car and react the same way. It's normal for these feelings to come, yes, they would.
But then, the right reaction to these feelings is what we're getting wrong. You see, as youths or maybe young people, ( I think I prefer that๐Ÿ˜Š) we aren't meant to be in hurry to be in possession of certain things. Life is in stages, and yes, there's time for everything. Most vices young people engage in today are as a result of the wrong reaction we give to certain things.
What's the use hurrying to own an expensive car, hurrying to make expensive hair do,  hurrying to put on expensive clothes, hurrying to build numerous houses when you can just calm down and get  them the right and proper way. You see someone who owns these things, instead of purposing in your heart to get these things by all means, and doing anything it takes to get them, you can purpose instead in your heart that one day, you're also going to be an owner of these things, and hey, you're going to get them the proper way. That's the right reaction. Patience pays off a lot. Now, is the time to lay the foundation of success, and there's no success with a faulty foundation that lasts.
There's no use hurrying. If you chase success, you'd find it. Just be calm, set goals, have a clear vision and watch yourself fulfilling your dreams.
Slow but steady, wins the race.๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ’–

COLOR RACISM ☹️

Me, if i want to marry, i never marry al these dark skinned girls we have here. My wife must be light skinned, like very fair like all those oyinbo people.' Femi said to his friend, J.J

' You're on point my guy. I agree with you. O can't marry all these ugly dark skinned girls.' J.J supported.

In the 50s, 60s, 70s etc we agree that colour rascism was very rampant. Yes, the whites tormented the blacks coz of their colours.☹️ The blacks were tagged animals coz of their colours. I won't say colour rascism has totally been eradicated amongst the whites, but you also would agree with me that it has been reduced to an extent.๐Ÿ˜Š

However, it's so sad and pathetic now because we the blacks ourselves are the ones discriminating against our own colour. ๐Ÿคฆ

' God! You're so black!' is very rampant amongst us. I say it too, but then, it's very bad. We are black, yes we should be proud. ❣️

If there are people i despise so much, they are people who  bleach their skin.๐Ÿ˜’ People are that desperate. Apart from the fact that it's totally wrong, it also has health related issues.๐Ÿ‘Œ

Let us stand for our color.๐Ÿ˜‡ Let's be proud of who we are.๐Ÿ™ƒ Don't be a part of those discriminating against their own colour.๐Ÿ˜

Fake life? Why? ☹️

' God!  You girls need to see the beautiful  gown my uncle at America just sent to me. It's gorgeous.  I cant wait to wear it.' Amanda said to her three friends.

' Really?   Both Laura and Nike said.

' Yes.  Don't worry,  when I put it on,  I'm going to send you girls the picture.'

' Wow... I'm  happy.  Won't you help us to tell your uncle to also purchase a dress for us? '

' Okay... I'm going to try.  I'd tell him when next he calls. You three are going to get a gown each. '

' Yay.... ' Laura and Nike screamed.

' Me?  A gown? From America?  God forbid! The gowns there aren't of good quality.  You need to see the one my mum bought for me from Dubai... So breathtaking!' Ada quickly interrupted.

' Really? ' Both Amanda and Laura shouted.

' Of course. '

' Okay... When next is your mum going? So she can help me get one also. ' Amanda replied.

' Errr... I don't know yet. Maybe I  should ask her. ' Ada stuttered and at this point, Nike could no longer hold back her laughter. If there was anyone who knew about her lieing skills,  it was Nike. They were childhood friends.

Ada had always been like that.  Even though her parents weren't well to do,  she would brag and brag about the different countries she had been to,  about the beauty clothes her mother who had never left the couch bought for her at Dubai,  she would even brag about different dishes she had never eaten nor know how they looked like.  Ada's fake lifestyle got her parents  very worried all the time,  but what could they do?

As a person,  I've always had this natural hatred for people  who live fake lives. ๐Ÿ˜ฆPretending to be who you're not or better put telling lies about who you really are only brings doom and oh.... disgrace too. ๐Ÿ˜’. Most people do this because they also want to feel among.  They want to be praised,  hailed and respected.

If your parents can only afford a one bedroom apartment, be proud and happy. ๐Ÿ‘Œ Some people have no place to call a home.  If your spouse can only afford to buy you a hair wig of 5000 Naira,  collect the money,  buy the wig and be happy.  You don't have to put on a hair wig of 100,000 Naira to be beautiful. ๐ŸŒš If you don't have a car,  trek and be thankful for life. ๐Ÿ™ Don't go around lending a car because you want to feel big. If you can't afford or maybe your parents can't afford to buy you an expensive cloth at an expensive boutique,  go somewhere else and buy the clothes your money can purchase. ๐Ÿ˜‡

What's the point using someone else's  car to camouflage? ๐Ÿคท What's the point borrowing money to look good?  Be proud of who you are. Don't go around doing things  that are not right because you want to  live a pompous life.  Remember,  the best you to be is the real you... ๐Ÿ‘Œ✨

RUMOURS

Rumours are like stories that people talk about that is not usually true. Mind you, rumour is an act of gossipping. Rumour can also be a mix...
