Don't be the antagonist in someone's success story

' Diane,  i listened to your song.  You posted it on Audiomack right? '

' Yes aunt.  Did you like it? '

' Diane,  I'm so disappointed in you.  What were you thinking?  Your song was a complete mess.  The lyrics were whack,  the beats made no sense,  and even your voice made me sick. I thought you were a good singer. ' Diane's aunt shot at her.

Diane couldn't believe her ears.  She thought the song made a lot of sense and was even proud of herself after listening to it.  She felt very down cast and ashamed of herself.

First,  she trusted her aunt a lot and knew she couldn't tell he lies. Second,  her aunt was the first person to comment on her song.  Since she hadn't heard any other comment from any other person, she concluded that the song really was a mess.

' If I were you,  I'd quit singing. ' Her aunt said again,  hissed and left.

Diane slumped on the couch as tears found their ways out of her eyes.

She had always had the dream of becoming a singer,  a very great singer.  The song she released was her first and since her aunt tagged it as 'whack', she was beginning to think that maybe she wasn't truly going to make it as a good singer.

Many people find themselves  in the shoes of Diane. You have passion for something, but then there people around you are not helping you in anyway.  Usually,  you're being condemned and your efforts,  frustrated.

Someone other people are like Diane's aunt.  Why do you have to be the one responsible for the death of someone's dream?

Don't get me wrong... It's fine to criticize, it's not a bad thing to pass a comment.  But then, your comment shouldn't be the one to make someone give up.

Even when someone doesn't do it well enough,  commend the person's effort first before pointing out the errors.

Don't totally condemn a person because he or she didn't deliver well. We should help each other,  encourage each other and seek for the success of each other.

Why do you have to be the antagonist in someone's success story?

Wanna know what later happened to Diane? Let me tell you.  Diane later became successful as a singer,  like she dreamed.

When she was asked to tell her success story, the bottom line of it was that she was already willing to give up because of what her aunt said. But then, she didn't because of the encouragement her best friend gave to her.

There are two kinds of people successful people never forget : those who looked down on their dreams and those who were always there to encourage them.

Just like  protagonist and an antagonist are very important to the success of a story, these two people are also important to every success story.

Little words of encouragement go a long way.  Use your word to help people grow and not bring them down. Do not be the antagonist in the story.

RUMOURS

Rumours are like stories that people talk about that is not usually true. Mind you, rumour is an act of gossipping. Rumour can also be a mix...
